VF2 Program Memory

I have been trying to load a large program to my VF2 which has only limited memory. The file is about 140k and the memory of the machine is 256k. I have deleted out all the other programs to make space, but when I try to load, the machine hangs after transferring about 60 lines of code.

To get round it I also tried setting the machine up for DNC. This way I managed to run the program until about 600 lines were executed, then got a RS232 framing error. I ran the program again and once again it failed after about 600 lines executed, although at a slightly different place in the file.

I know I can save seperate operations from the CAM software and execute them seperately, but I would like to avaoid that if possible. Does anyone have any ideas on this ?

Have you deleted all line numbers? What size is the file (in megabytes, not line numbers)? What year is the machine, and does it have a USB port?

I gather it doesn't have a hard drive you could run it from?

It is a 1996 machine with 256k of memory, the file is 148k. No USB port, just the standard serial link, and the program does have line numbers in

I run off of the USB drive so I won't be much help, but the first thing I would try is deleting all line numbers out of the program and see if that helps.

I had this problem with a Fadal.. it was the cable from the PC to the machine. The cable was capable of uploading, but DNC crashed on about 10 lines. The cable could not handle sending information from the mill to the PC. If you are just trying to do this, maybe the cable is not configured correctly. I had to custom build mine.
