Haas alarm 104 on a mini mill, bummer?

Hi folks, NewB Mark here. I've got a Mini Mill that's giving me an alarm #104. (Y servo problem) It's not consistent and happens during light machining. Anyone know if this is something I can look into myself, or do I need to pay someone who knows what they're doing?

I think you are in my position when this type of things happens; dial the correct phone number and just say 'come fix it'.

The not consistent problems are a pain because it is guaranteed to work perfectly when the technician is there.

If it is any consolation I have had it happen once in nine years and several machines and it was a wire between the servo amp and the motor that had broken, probably due to the flexing when the axis moves.

Thanks Geof. I was hoping someone would say it's something simple like dirt in a sensor or something. Funds are a bit tight at the moment, and I can get by with out that machine until things pick up a bit.
