With a serial number, will Hass release options that were sold on a machine and if the bomb code is still running (or if there is one)?

I talked to my local HFO and he said if his office did not sell the machine he can't get that info.

I can't speak for Haas, but this is my understanding:

If HAAS got paid, they release the code. I don't think they wanted to get into the hassles of getting between lien holders and machine owners. They do hold that code ransom to ensure that they are getting their payments if it was purchased using their financing.

I wouldn't buy any machine until I was sure that Haas had released that code. As for your HFO, I don't believe that. Even if they won't cough it up, the factory should have it available if the machine is free & clear.

You may need to do a UCC search on the machine to make sure there is no lien outstanding. They charge about 20 to 25 bucks for it in most states.

Just get the serial number and call the factory service department (805-278-8500). Explain your concerns and they should be able to help you. While you are on the phone with them I would also ask about the machine history.
