I have a few thousand parts I need to serial number during one of my setups and the need to be seq numbered . I am playing with the g47 sub and it seems great . The manual mentions I can define the begining of a serial number range by entering the # in macro 599 and to see the section on macros for more info. I cant seem to figure this out , could someone give me a quick how to on entering the starting number in macro 599? I also have a customer that wants different batches of parts to start with a letter , ie A B C etc , then followed with the 4 digit number sequence, when I am writing the line to generate the seq serial numbers can it be written as G47 P1 (A####) . If so will it generate text of A1234, A1235, A1236 etc? Or does the A need to be written in a seperate line G47 P0 (A) then second line G47 P1 (####) with each line having the proper XY coordinates? Thanks Rich |

| Yes. One G47 does your text another G47 does the sequential number starting at whatever you enter in 599.

| CRNT CMDS and page down until you find the Macro Variables page. Type 599 and press Write. Type your starting number and press Write.

| Correct, I remember now that you mention it. ![]() If your customer wants truly sequential numbers you need to take a bit of care because the counter increments even during Graphics I think; any time the program hits and M30.
