Hope someone can help. I will be running an operation a number of times and then all of the sudden x axis of the origin moves .010. I won't know it until I go over the part is off center. I zero out the part again and it it will run fine 3 or 4 times. I'll check it every time and it is fine, then move on and one will be off and I will have to move the origin again. I started writing down the numbers and are -6.2929 -6.0929 -5.9929 for the last few times it has moved. Pretty soon it will be outside the machine ![]() Running the same program over and over and it happened yesterday running a different program over and over. Thanks in advance, TB |

| Is this a fairly new machine; later than around 2004? Since around 2004 Haas machines use proximity sensors instead of mechanical limit switches. The proximity sensors are sensitive to chips getting on or near them and they can send false signals to the controller. It may be worthwhile taking the way covers off on the left hand side to see if the proximity sensor for homing the X axis has any chips on it or near it.

| The more I read about this the more I feel a HAAS is a High Maintenance Machine. What is your view on this Geof?? True or False???

| I have machines that have done thousands of hours without maintenance. I do not count having to blow or flush chips off proximity sensors as maintenance.

| I never heard it put that way but do get your point. I am still eye balling a 5 Axis Office Mill for personal use. I hope it works out because it is small enough to hide from the other half. The price tag on the other hand isn't that easy to hide.
