Beacon Light

Does anyone know how to install a beacon light for a 2001 Haas mini mill. My machine didnt have one and I was able to get a light with a small amount of wire still atached. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the wire diagram to get it working. This is the light that is on top of the controller and it is green when the machine is runnign and it will go red when the machine alarms.

Geof will become famous soon enough

Have a look inside the big tube supporting the monitor housing, inside the monitor housing and inside the control cabinet. If you are lucky you will find a wire labelled Green Beacon or something like that not connected to anything at the top.

I have found Haas prewires a lot of things which are options so the wires are just sitting there unused.

I looked in the tube and back of the cabinet and found nothing. I did locate where the connector would go on the main board. If anyone has the diagram that would be the best.

I was able to find the plug on the PC board( it is labeled "BEACON") and I have ordered some molex mini fit jr from digikey so I can wire it in myself. I know what a multimeter is but I barley know how to use one. Can anyone guide me thru identifing which pins would power the green light, red light , the common and ground pins. I want to get it right so I dont smoke my machine

Thanks

Man, it's just not worth it. Call Haas and just order the right harness. It can't be that expensive.

They've had a few different types of beacons over the years (and I think some of them used incandescent bulbs). They might all use different drive voltages and amperages. It's just not worth messing up your board for a blinking light. The right parts from Haas will just plug in and you'll be done.

You might be better off calling HAAS as "Donkey Hotey" suggests. You might find it to be very inexpensive not to mention the correct harness. If you make any mistake your ony going to have to call them anyway, but with a larger more expensive problem.

Do yourself a favor and just get a quote.
