Lost air to tool changer during tool change . , 40 tool side mount changer on new vf-4. Arm has rotated under spindle and has two tools in place, one at spindle one at magazine. Its at the point now where it needs to drop down the 4-5 inches before rotating . Pushed the tool recovery button and followed the onscreen instructions but no option exist to lower the tool arm, only to rotate. No answer on the 24hr help line yet. what is the M-Code to lower the arm? Any thoughts or help appreciated |

| You should be able to rotate the arm using the ATC REV button. You'll need help as it may drop both tools. Depending on exactly where in the cycle it stopped, you can also use the ATC FWD button to get the tools away from the spindle or pot. See the two silver dowels that stick up out of the arm, close to the pivot? They are spring loaded and if you push them down, it unlocks the little clamps that clamp the tool into the arm. One clear of the spindle and pot, you can push those dowels down and remove both tools from the arm. |

| I am not too clear on it but during the tool changer recovery procedure there is a way to lower the arm; very slowly. You use the up and down cursor keys? Does that sound sensible? My shop had a similar problem and they were stuck until they realised it was moving but oh so slowly.

| ATC forward, or reverse will either rotate the arm, or lower, then rotate the arm. I had to do this about 1000 times on the first side mount I purchased until we figured out that the air line was too small going to the machine. Push either button (like said before about a billion times) and if it doesn't do what you want (or look like it is doing what you want) then push the other one. It really is a simple recovery. Good luck - let us know if you get her fixed!

| Yep guys, much thanks, I spoke with Orvile while I was at lunch and then read the response with the same method when I got back. I did closely follow the instructions in the manual , and did push the rev button just as detailed in the manual. , it just never mentions pushing it more than once. A quick edit to read "push the button repeaditly until the arm moves" or something similar would be a great help . I believe I had to push it somewhere around 20 or so times before the arm began to move, then it moved in aprox 2 degree incrememnts. Thanks everyone, more questions to come I am sure |
