Ok, so despite numerous warnings to the contrary, my old boss who I still do work for decided to try and learn how to use the machine by himself. As luck would have it (and it actually was lucky as he would have caused more damage had he gotten past this point) the particular toolholder got stuck in the spindle. Rather than call myself, HAAS, the other old employee who knew how to run it, read the manual, or ask on the internet, he decided to take the toolchanger off the mill. I'm looking for any data sheets or repair manual pages that deal with this assembly. He claims to "know where everything is" but I really would like to see a manual before I try to undo what he did. I would make him call HAAS, but he has no money, and with a datasheet to go by I'm sure I could have it back together quickly. if anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Also if anyone knows how to disable the toolchanger in the machine itself, in other words, just make it think there isn't one installed (tool changer is optional on this mill) so I can do the changes by hand. |

| i had a similiar problem and it was the limit switch in the drawbar behind the spindle waycover, the problem was the bolts loosened up and it fell off. should be easy to bolt back up,you will need to redefine the height at which it picks up and releases the tool (paramters ?)

Again, it's not that I can't slap it back on, but he touched it. I can't be sure he didn't remove something that needs to be there because he fails to report things until it's way too late. A data sheet would tell me where stuff needed to go. |

| Probably the best bet is to call Haas and get the instruction sheet. Generally when they ship a component that is a field installable type accessory, they send along a detailed diagram of how to install it for the technician. They may be able to email you one. As far as disabling it, there should be some wire leads coming from the control box on the back of the machine. I think that there is a plastic connection plug inline that could be disconnected. Also you do have to disable the toolchanger in the parameters but not sure which one it is. I'll look on both accounts and let you know when I am in the office and have a chance.
