Umbrella Toolchager Rotational Speed

I have a 92 VF2 with an umbrella style changer and the changer will through my heavier tool holders from time to time. I glanced through the parameters but didnt see a see anything that looked like it controlled the speed of the rotation. Is there a way to slow it down?

What tools are being thrown? I regularly use 3, 4, and 5" facemills with no toolchanger problems.
Are the spring-loaded jaws in the tool pockets gripping your toolholders securely, or do they wobble in the toolchanger?
One of the machines I run, with the horrible, destructive Syntillo coolant, has occasional tool gripper problems. The jaws will gum up and not spring shut on the toolholder. To free them up, I'll toolchange to the offending pocket, and hit E-stop in the middle of the toolchange, when the spindle is at it's highest point. Simply loosening and retightening the shoulder bolts that the tool gripper jaws pivot on is usually enough to free them up.

Other than that, there's no parameter listed in the VF3's manual for the toolchanger's motor. It's a simple DC gearmotor with a switch to signal when a tool pocket is aligned.

Good luck!

Every once in a while I will take the forks out one at a time and look for burrs and rough areas on the fork legs. I also take this time to clean that tool changer area. If the tools are shaking loose it is time to do this maintenance. I am running a 92 vf-0 There is not much leaway in the Z axis alignment with your tool changer. Make sure that the spindle and the tool changer align correctly. A wee bit of misalignment can cause your forks to bang into your tools and cuase the above burrs and rough areas. I also like to flex the tools inward a little with a vise. I try to keep all the forks open the same amount. I am home right now or I would look up that measurement and pass it on.

My height change is right in the money, i just checked it last week. I think maybe my old 1 piece fingers are a little tired and I guess I should replace them. I was hoping I could at least slow it down for now. My t16 pot has brand new fingers in it so I guess I could test that pot and see if I through on the new finger as well.
