Problem- spindle churp or squeak

I have a 2006 haas vf 3 I've had it 8 months the spindle squeaks or chips sometimes has any one else have this

If the machine is not under warranty I would say run it till it dies. In a lot of cases with Haas spindles you will hear what is called bearing cage rattle. It does not affect the part and it comes and goes. Kind of sounds like a rattlesnake on speed. LOL. If this is what you are hearing, I personally would not worry. If it is a constant sound (Meaning all the time at different speeds) you may want to have it looked into. Haas Factory Outlets have a vibration analyzer test that can tell you if the spindle is going bad. It looks at bearing vibration and other machine component vibration.

My spindle started making a squeaking noise when the Vector Drive went on the fritz (250 hours on the machine). It was a bogus leg coming out of the Vector Drive that was causing the windings to chirp as the motor rotated.

Any 123 errors on the machine?

no greg I have no 123 alarms going back 4 months

If you have through spindle coolant sometimes the rotary union on top goes bad making it sound like a spindle noise.

I know of a shop that has a Haas VF3 with a 7500 rpm cat 50 spindle in it. He had that problem and because of issues he had with Haas on a lathe they wouldn't come and service it. We tore into the spindle and found that it had bad bearings. I am going to blueprint it and will post that information. I have since found that Haas has had many problems with their spindles. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! This almost cost this small shop bankruptcy. He had only 2 machines, both brand, new both Haas, 1 lathe 1 mill. Both machines have issues still.
