You would be suprised at how much stuff they have to give away, or can even sell, yet they don't. Oxnard has a whole catalog of stuff, that is practically impossible to get. I even tried to get a job at our local HFO, just so I could buy these trinkets and resell them on ebay.

Stainless steel watches, wall clocks, really nice pens, coffee mugs, ties, lab coats, long sleeve tees, post-it note desk clocks, gift sets, usb drives, etc, etc, etc. The HFO's just buy the generic hats and tees, only on a rare occasion do they give out the better trinkets.

We always joke about buying a $60,000.00+ tee shirt and getting a VF2SS for free.

Congrats on the stuff you got! Just let the sales rep know you want embroidered golf shirts the next time they come.

Yeah, Sam, you're breakin' my heart here. I'd also like to buy some 'brand' stuff. I hate to ask my sales guy because he's so nice that he just wants to give it to me. I hate taking the stuff because I know it's their sales perks to give to new customers. Their 'brand' is pretty big. No clue why they don't sell it more.

In fact, I was walking through a thrift store the other day and on the end of one rack was a brand new Haas shirt. Other than some cat hair, it was clean and never even washed (still had the creases from being folded in the bag). I grabbed it for $3.

My other gripe is their poor documentation of the machine accessories. Ever try to see what some of the tool rack, shelves, cabinets and brackets look like for the outside of the machine? They should a whole accessory page on their website, with pricing and pictures of all of their extras.

I messed around for almost a year, trying to find a decent notebook clip so I could make a notepad holder for my TL-1 (doesn't come with it). I later learned that the whole factory notepad holder was like $29 (with a pad of Haas paper). Yeah, I bought it...and a pendant bottom shelf while I was at it.

Or the Haas blow gun? Think it's expensive? I think it was $15 or $20. Try to find a similar one in MSC or McMaster's book and you'll see that it's not any more expensive and it fits right into the slot on the bottom of the pendant. Yeah, I bought that too.

It's minor stuff but they'd sell more of it if customers could see what the stuff looks like.

Within the past year, I decided to try to keep some of the accessory stuff on display in our showroom. I use the tool carts and various tool trays and shalves and bins next to every other machine in the showroom. Since doing that, I've seen a few new machine orders placed with tool carts too...so I guess it worked.

A lot of the other stuff (like the wall clocks and whatnot) I view more as decoration for use inside of the HFO, we do what we can to make the customers happy with the shirts and hats. It's nice to see what is posted here from time to time...gives me ideas to make the showroom look better, and to make the customers (both the existing ones and the new ones) happier.

You can see some of the more exotic stuff (mugs, clocks) come up on eBay from time to time...

I got a real nice lab coat from my rep (after seeing the service guy wearing in one - it looked sharp)... plus a couple of t-shirts. --ch
