The spindle never does start automatically after M01 or M00 you need to make sure these commands are followed by a spindle start command.

Well that would explain it. Thanks so much. BTW, this forum subscribes to the concept that there are no dumb questions, right? Because I have a feeling I have a lot more to come. I have been reading my Haas manual, but there is not much detail. |

| I am also guilty of putting in a M01 that stopped the machine just before it entered a profile cutter without the M03 to restart the spindle. When I pressed cycle start the machine simply started feeding into the cut with a stationary tool and sheared off a brand new 5/8" carbide. I watched it do it and then realised I could have hit Feedhold and started the spindle using the CCW key.
