| Same machine, I am not getting anywhere fast. I have all the wires connected as near as I can tell but now I am getting a X follow Error Alarm 103 during the normal startup. I have the motor out of the housing but sitting on the rails/ You can follow the error codes in the earlier requests for help. We started with a 139 alarm, then a couple of 161 alarms and onw this. I need to get this machine running this weekend. Thank you Eagle |

| Did you replace the brushes? The Following Error alarm happens when the ballscrew does not move as fast as the controller is expecting it to move. The way I understand it is that the controller supplies a certain voltage to the motor so it 'knows' how fast the screw should be rotating. If it does not detect an encoder count that matches the expected speed, within limits, then it alarms out with the following error. If the brushes are badly worn, or sticking in their holders, they may not be making good contact so the motor may be running slow.

| Geof Thank you, right now I don't have the motor attached to the ball screw at all. It is sitting croswise on the rails. I am going back though the wiring changes that I made to make sure they are all correct, 1 more time. Thanks Eagle/lkenney |

| What you could do is disconnect the motor armature feed or connector, not the encoder. If you power up, you should not get a following error, as long as you do not command a move. With the armature disconnected you should be able to move the motor shaft slowly, and at some point you will reach a following error, If you get an error right away, it is most likely an encoder wiring fault. If you re-connect the motor and get the FE on a move, if it is an encoder mis-connection the motor will probably jump and FE error out. Al.

The Errors you are reporting all are indicating the Encoder is not indicating the motor is turning. Either the motor is not turning or the Encoder is not working. Check the Motor Brushes. You may be able to swap motor/encoders from another axis to help troubleshoot. SRW |
