VF2-SS + TR160

Hi!

Im running Haas VF2SS with TR160 5-axis trunnion. As you may know, there is not very much space for toolchanger to operate especially when trunnion is loaded with workpiece. I have to manually add these lines before every Txx M6 to clear space for tool change

G53 G00 Z0.
G90 G54 G00 X-300.

Is there easier way? I need to do make lot of 5-axis work and it is pretty slow to manually search every TxxM6 line and edit. Im using only G54 and XY zero point is always at the center of rotary table.

I have a vf3 with a trunion table also, I wrote some code in the post, with the g53 moves, I pull z all the way up, and move the table to the x and y extremes, before a tool change.

We have two VF2 SS machines with TR160's on them. We modified the parameters that control the tool change position to have a X & Y move in it.

Parameter 210 for X and 211 for Y. These are encoder pulses. Go into DEBUG mode, move to your desired tool change position and note the X&Y pulse counts from the raw data page and enter them into the corresponding parameters.

One caveat though, when it does a tool change it moves all axes at once. So just make sure the tool is high enough to clear everything.

We have used this method for about 2 years now with no collisions.

Andrew.
