Did you guys try and see if the buzzer is hooped? It's just a peizo tweeter if I recall correctly and doesn't cost much money, chances are, the soldering came off the peizo plate.
Hi all,
I'm new to the list and I have an problem with my ,93 VF4 .
The key board stopped giving "beep" feed back and the beeper doesn't work at all.
Things we have tried are:
1. Checked for speaker opperation.....works.
2. New keyboard interface board........no change.
3. New video board .........................no change.
The tech support guys at Haas have done their best over the phone but have yet to solve the problem.
Other seemingly unrelated recent problems have been a failed low voltage power supply (twice) and it also seems that the video display may be slightly squashed in the "y" direction (up and down) but it's hard to tell.
Any ideas of what to check next?
THANKS,
JAY

Thanks,
It's not a beeper but actually a speaker and it tests out fine.
Thanks for your help.

How do you know it's a speaker? That doesn't sound right to me. I don't know why they'd bother to put an oscillator on their board, just to generate a single tone when they could just drive a beeper with DC. I'd bet it's a beeper that's stopped 'beeping' and now it just pops when you put DC to it (behaving like a speaker).
If I'm wrong, I'll have to chalk that one up to "ya learn something every day."![]()

GREG,
I'm calling it a speaker because it looks like a speaker , 2" or 3" in dia. paper with metal frame .We tested it with a 1.5 volt bat. across the speaker connections and got sounds so we know it can produce noise.
thanks,
JAY
Well, that sure sounds like a speaker. The later model ones all have a black plastic beeper. OK, I'm outta' suggestions![]()

I am having a related problem with my VF0-E. I want my beeper to be louder. The volume is maxed out. The speaker is fine and the line voltage seem correct. Any sugestions
The beeper volume is controlled by a small pot (potentiometer) mounted on the circuit board behind the keypad. On newer systems, the beeper has a hand rotated plastic mute at the bottom of the pendant.
Thanks for the reply. I have already turned it up all the way. I have tried many things with no solution. So, I am simply going to add an amplifier to the speaker system. It will have an external volume adjustment. This allows the operator the ability to control the volume as needed. It seems like a good solution for my problem
The beeper was really annoying so I disabled it.
