    Toolsetter problems

I just bought a 2004 VF 3 SS and it came with a Renishaw probe and toolsetter
I have figured out how to use the toolsetter and it seems to take the tool down touch off then spin the tool and give me the diameter as well. Very Cool

The problem I am having is when I set my work offsets on the G54 X & Y seem to work fine and the machine goes to 0x & 0y and then the Z comes down but instead of going to the top of the part the machine starts cutting about 6 " above the part. I am pretty sure it is something simple but I appear to be missing something

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Have you calibrated the touch probe lenght with the tool setter?
You should be able to touch off z with the probe, and it will set the z offset.
Also make sure you have g43 called out, with the H1 , for tool 1 or what ever tool you have.

Hmmm No I have not calibrated the touch probe with the tool setter

How do you do that ?

There appears to be a G43 In the code

    G43 Z .1 H 5

    Thanks

Use visual quick code , or the ips software in the control. there are probe calibration routines in the 2 programs, they do the same thing. they are macros.

Hello I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that took the time to help out, I have the machine up and running and I think the Renishaw system is pretty cool. I also have the calibration doc's if anyone wants them let me know.
