Door switch removal?

Does anybody have any tips on removing the door switches on a 2004 VF-2? It looks like the door might be designed to have the center stop removed, then slid over to one side or the other. I'm not sure and I don't want the doors falling off the tracks before I learn the trick.

The right-hand door switch is starting to get sticky and I hope a good cleaning will help it return to normal.

Before you start ripping things apart try my trick; spray methyl alcohol all over the switch. Itr is possible that your stickiness is due to a build up of coolant residue and methanol is a good solvent for this residue. You can get methyl hydrate at The Home Depot.

I hope you have figured out that methyl alcohol, methanol and methyl hydrate are one and the same.

My other fix for a sticky microswitch is hit it with a plastic hammer. This surprises the switch so much it never malfunctions again.

EDIT: I re-read your post with my brain switched on. Switch??? You have a switch on a 2004 machine? Not a proximity sensor?

It's a roller arrangement and sounds like a switch. It could be a roller prox sensor. I dunno. Did they change them to proximity sensors right after I bought mine?

I knew it was probably gummy from 4 years of coolant mist condensing on it but couldn't get to it to even try to clean it. It's behind the door in all positions.

I figured out how to remove the door, so I just popped it out. I removed the roller assy and gave it a good washing with WD40 to cut the coolant, then a rinse with distilled water and blew it off with compressed air. She seems to be working perfectly again.

I contoured a $2000 piece of peek plastic in there today. That was some interesting stuff. It cuts very nicely and doesn't melt like lower temp thermoplastics. After the run, it looked like somebody dumped a 50 lb bag of pasta shells in the machine.

As always, thanks for the tips.
