AUTO POWER UP AND PROG RUN?

Does anyone know of a way that I can have my machine startup at 530am and run my spindle warmup prog so it is ready for me to run when I come in, in the mornings?

machine start up

Yes it can me done with a custom macros program. You must have macros and be careful as a machine starting on its own can be dangererous.

Haas machines have a SLEEP command; have a look in your manual, I cannot remember the exact code.

You leave the machine powered on with air and modify your warm up program with a line that gives the SLEEP time in hours and minutes. You have to make sure you start the program at the correct time so it wakes up at the correct time.

M95 Sleep Mode Sleep
Sleep mode is essentially a long dwell (pause). Sleep mode can be used when the user wants the machine to
begin warming itself up so it can be ready for use upon the operators arrival. The format of the M95 command is:
M95 (hh:mm)
The comment immediately following the M95 must contain the hours and minutes that the machine is to sleep for.
For example, if the current time were 6 p.m. and the user wanted the machine to sleep until 6:30 a.m. the next day,
the following command would be used:
M95 (12:30)
The line(s) following the M95 should be axis moves and spindle warm-up commands.

Yeah we leave our compressor on 24/7 so we have air... On that note, my next comment/question is going to sound stupid... Power consumption was the issue with me leaving it in sleep mode.. Does anyone know how much power is used while the machine is sleeping?

How do I create a custom macro program that will start up the machine?

To answer your power consumption question; not much, I put an ammeter on a VF0 which was just sitting idle and it was drawing about 1 to 1-1/2amps which is around 500 watts.

To answer your question about creating a macro to start the machine I think that would be a trick; if the machine is off then it is not running in order to process the macro.

I had Run a Matsuura, that had a timer on it, that would trigger the shop comressor to start, and fire up the machine after a bit, then run the warm up program. I'm not sure how this was rigged up, but if you can do it on a machine like that, it could be done with a Haas.
