so i'll be leaving my current job for greener pastures in a few days and i am the only one who can run the Haas VF3. they are looking for my replacement as i type, but i don't think they're going to have much luck in the short term as the market's pretty tight in WI. i'm still getting calls for interviews and haven't sent any resumes out in three weeks. so the question is what should i do to the machine so that it can sit with out being run for a potentially extended period without going to wrack and ruin. my current plans are to empty the coolant tank, take everything off the table, clean it thoroughly, and the spray it all down with a rust preventative. any suggestions? |

| Check that the Run In program is in the machine; this will be O02021. Leave instructions that if the machine has not been run for more than three weeks the Run In program should be run, and it is important to periodically check the spindle temperature. If the spindle nose gets warm stop the program, let the machine cool down and restart. When the machine is not being used the oil drains into the lower spindle bearing and then when it is run at high speed the bearing can get very hot. The Run In program is intended to purge the oil out of the bearing.
