| We have had ours about 3 years and like it very much. Holds +/-.001 tolerance very well. Probing is a must because of the size. Macros are a must for us. We have and use scaling and rotation and spindle orientation. The biggest draw back is the center of spindle in the 'Y' axis is 11 from table top with built in rotary table and 15 inch without. The Z axis won't reach past the center of the table with out extended tooling. It is really more of a tombstone type mill. We kicked around whether to get the enclosure and are very glad we did. Chips fly a long way!! I would get another one just like it if we needed to. edit The only real problem we have had is a wire broke in the cable to the rotary table and was a real bear to get at and fix. Also, don't referance a 32 inch table with a 54 inch fixture on board!! Last edited by JWK42; 08-15-2008 at 01:04 PM. Reason: Added a comment |

| In the Haas specification brochure it says the built-in 4th axis has an Indexing Accuracy ± 30 arc-sec and Indexing Repeatability of ± 15 arc-sec. Ok class is in session. 1 arc-second=.000005 per inch, this means in 30 arc-seconds I could see an error of .00015 per inch. In order to square a 36 inch wide block of aluminum I can expect an error of up to .0054. Has anyone had any experience with this 4th axis and the accuracy? Best regards, G |
