Haas toolroom VMC for home shop?

I was looking at the Haas toolroom mills for a home shop. It's more of a farm shop. I was originally looking at the tormach's but im thinking the haas TM-1/2/3 machines would suit me better.

Now, would I be better off buying a brand new TM-1 for 25grand or buying a 8 year old VF-2 for 25grand?

It's main purpose will be machining aluminum, around 4" x 10" parts, in numbers from 1 or two up to 100.

any ideas?

thanks,

djn

Haas TM vs VF

DJN, I have a TM-1 and it suits my needs extremely well as I do mainly one-off parts or short run (less than 50 parts). The open construction of the TM provides increased versatility over a VMC. If your jobs are the usual repair/maintainence/occaisional unique design parts one would expect on a farm then the TM would be great. JMHO

If you can find a 8 year old VF2 for 25 grand I would go for it. Much faster, more powerful and more rigid than the TM machines. I have a 2000 VF0 that is still going strong.
