Reseting the A axis

High guys!

We have encountered an issue regarding the 4th axis (A axis).
We have a Haas VF-2BHE with a rotary table (HRT 210) and we face a problem when doing helical machining (Imagine that we are doing a spiral operation on a cylinder).
In such an operation the rotary table can complete as much as 10 full rotation 3600 degrees or even more. The problem arises when we want to to another operation in another point of this cylindrical part.
Because the A axis angle is now, let's say 3760 degrees and the next operation is done in (for instance) 130 degrees, the 4th axis needs to make an oppossite rotation of 3760-130=630 degrees. As you could easily understand this takes some time 2-3 min and in case the initial rotation is higher, longer time is needed and consequently it starts to bother us.
Our CAM supplier (EdgeCAM v.12.5) told us that we need to ask Haas people for a special command (probably an M code ) that deals with this issue by reseting the complete rotations prior to going to another angle. That is, for instance when we have an initial rotation angle of 3760 and we want to go to a 130 degrees angle, this command should abstract 10*360=3600 degrees from the initial angle and therefore the rotation of the rotary would be 160 - 130=30 degrees.
Our local are still checking that but I need a prompter solution.
Does anyone have any idea?
Any help will be appreciated!

Buy me a Beer?

Hi Nikitec

Have you tryed to do it by just adding a line of code were you want it to go just tell
the rotary table to go to the next start point in a rapid move this would be the best
solution & you should be able to do in your cam program I don't think it is anything to
do with your control I don't know Edgecam so can't help you there but somebody that
has it might be of more help & Edgecam may not surpport what you want to do Just try what I said

There is.
Look in you manual concerning Circle wrap, and Quick rotary.
These 2 settings are the area for what you want to do , not edge cam.
You will then go to the nearest zero instead of unwinding it all.

This is the solution. On some machines you need to change both a Setting and a Parameter, on other machines they are both Settings. Look for QUICK ROTARY G28 and CIRCLE WRAP in the Parameters and Settings

EDIT:

I searched and found two posts I did almost two years ago.

Setting 108. With it ON when you do a G28 on the rotary axis with the axis rotated more than 360*n degrees it only unwinds to the nearest 360*n then zeroes. If it is at 361 degrees it unwinds 1 degree and zeroes, if it is at 359.99 it unwinds 359.99 to zero.

With Setting 108 OFF it always unwinds all the way.

There was something niggling and I remembered it. There is also a Parameter involved; parameter bit CIRC. WRAP. (10) must be set to 1 on parameter 43 for the A axis and Parameter 151 for the B axis. If these bits are not set to 1 the control will ignore Setting 108.
