    Machine data collection

I am running a DNC software called Predator and they have a MDC product. I am looking for another alternative to do collect data off the HAAS setting 143. Anyone doing any data collection?

Elaborate on your question. What is setting 143 so I do not have search for what it is? What year is your machine? What data do you want to collect and how would it be used?

If Predator can collect your data what is the problem with it? Why do you want to switch?

    additional info on "why"

I researched my controls all (9) have the option available.
We have (16) VMC I have (10) I want to collect from currenty.

Why don't I use Predators other product "MDC" cost is 10K.
I am looking for other alternatives before I purchase this item.
Here is somemore info on "Setting 143"

    143 Machine Data Collection
This setting enables the user to extract data from the control using a Q command sent through the RS-232 port.
This feature is software based and requires an additional computer to request, interpret and store data from the control.
Note that the control will only respond to a Q command when this setting is ON.
The following output format is used:
    <STX><CSV response><ETB<CR?LF><0x3E>
    ("CSV" means Comma Separated Variable)
    Note STX=0x02 (ctrl-B);ETB=0x17 (ctrl-w)
The folling commands can be used:
    Q100 machine serial number
    Q101 Control software version
    Q102 Machine Model Number
Q104 Mode (list prog mdi mem jog etc.)
    q200 tool changes total
    Q201 tool number in use
    Q300 power on time
    Q301 motion time
    Q303 last cycle time
    Q304 previous cycle time
    Q400
    Q401
    Q402 m30 parts counter #1
    Q403 m30 parts counter #2
Q500 three in one (program Oxxxxx, status, parts, xxxx)
Q600 is available to be used in conjuction with macros controlling other devices at the machine.

    Thanks for your interest GAR...

    clujan:

I do not have any machines with this function. What specific information do you want to extract, and how often? What commands do you expect to run? Do you plan to send data to modify some parameter such as the depth of a hole for balancing purposes?

At what baud rate are you able to run Predator?

Can DPRNT do what you want?

    Where are you located?
