The thing behind the waste oil bottle with the little tube coming out, see pic. This is supposed to separate the oil and coolant with the oil going in the bottle and the coolant going down a different tube to the coolant tank. There is a thing like a hose fitting nut behind it to take it off.

| *perks* eh? what's that? I don't have one of them. Does that separate the oil that leaks down from my spindle from the actual water/coolant mixture? (the milky stuff from the oil stuff that floats on top?) The reason I'm asking is I just cleaned out my mill sump and it was filthy- god alone knows what was growing in there, another few months and I swear it was gonna become sentient. How does it work please? what's it called? Does it float on top of the coolant and suck op the oil that floats on top? Looks dead handy if it does.

| Periodic cleaning is needed and they are easy to take off, but on my machine in the home shop I simply empty the little bottle frequently into a can, let things separate and then suck the oil off the top and pour the coolant back into the machine.

| After reading this, I just had to look at my 2006 VF-2SS's. I have 5 of them, and they all keep filling that d@*% little bottle. I went ahead and tore one apart. wheewwww, Naaasty. LOL. I did have a problem with the gasket after re-assembly, so I called the HFO. New gaskets are $1.65 each. So, I'm stocking them and putting this into my Preventive Maintenance Program. Moral of story. Bottle??? "I never new that" was a coolant/oil seperator. Thanks for the GREAT info!!!!

Heh, heh, heh; you need to learn something by experience. ![]() To be honest, I forgot that pleasure.
