Or you can go cheap and get one for about 1/4 of that. Is the Phase-Perfect truly perfect? They'd have to make a really good case for me to believe it.
After spending dozens of hours (literally) looking at my incoming power on an oscilloscope and researching RPCs, I have to say that there are only two, truly 'perfect' solutions: - A mechanical motor-to-motor generator setup (a single phase motor, spinning a 3-phase motor). That will generate true 3-phase power without phase shift.
- An external vector drive with huge banks of capacitors.
A Phase-Perfect or Phase-a-matic would be a very nice phase converter--if you can and want to afford it. Are they 4X as good? I didn't believe so. But don't let the $6K price tag scare you out of buying a machine. If you can't afford or justify that expense, you can get by at $1500.
It's the whole Chinese tool vs Snap-On conundrum. Is there a difference? Yes. Do you need it? That's up to you.
