You think it's bad now, as the economy crashes you think the City/State
will rein in their spending? Not on your life they will just raise your
taxes (Free Money).

Part of the reason the economy is going in the toilet is because the taxes are already too high. Raising them more will just make it worse. This is not to say they will not raise them anyway with typical backward government thinking. BTW, lets just say things tank really bad like 1929 bad. People are loosing their homes, cars and everything else on a broad scale. At that point there is no way the government can bale out anyone. The dollar amount is just too high. Actually it is already at that point in housing but that is another issue altogether. Back to the point, People are losing things left and right and now uncle sam wants more? Just how long is it till peace ends and shooting starts, (Hurricane Katrina). This is not far fetched and has happened in history before but at a time when people had faith in the US government, and stronger morals and ties to the community. The Depression in the 20's and 30's lasted as long as it did due to too much government intervention. New federal programs caused business to be weary of reinvesting. I am not pointing fingers as at that time these ideas were new and never tried and I believe done out of honestly good intentions. This still does not change the facts. The depression in the US led to one in Europe. This in tern aided the support to the national socialist, read (Nazi), to fix the problem when they otherwise would not have gone anywhere. The rest is history. This is why I am so addament about taxes even on a local level being under control. By slowly bleeding small business to death the roots get cut out of the economy. The result has historically been a chain reaction that results in a bloody end on a large scale. Just like a parasite feeding off of the host, when the parasite is small the host may not have any problem or even notice it. As the parasite grows it becomes a noticable problem but can easily be rectified while it is not too big. If it is let go because no one wants to deal with it or they are afraid of the "pain" that might be result from dealing with it then it becomes a very large problem that can spread or kill you and the parasite. Hopefully we are not at the point that the parasite is too large and both are lost but I fear that we are.

P.S.

The key is unity. It worked with the immigration bill and will work here too. We just can not let down our guard after we fix this because like the imigration bill, they will just cut it up and feed it to us slow.
