TM1 Monitor issue

The monitor on my 2000 TM1 is becoming hard to read especially in the top left corner section, any suggestions. Thanks

My experience from the past is just replace the monitor. Haas Factory Outlet sells them for @ $300.00. Once in a while you can even find them on ebay. It really is cheaper than trying to repair the existing monitor. At least for my Company it is. I have replaced them all on my 3 mini-mills (same monitor).

You can do it. Pull the back panel off of the control panel to gain access. You will see the bolts that hold the monitor in. It is pretty easy, and this should only take an hour ---If you've never done it. Once you've done one, it's much easier the second time. It is a plug and play type of operation.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I called my local Haas Factory outlet the monitor is $350.00 but if I install it the warranity on the monitor is voided and they couldn't tell me how long it would take them to install, but they could tell me it was only $95.00 an hour.

Plus driving time (they do charge for that, don't they?).

For that kind of cabbage, I'd take my chances on replacing the monitor myself. Or I'd take the control apart first and see if there are any identifying manufacturer names and model numbers on it. It's not like Gene Haas has a factory in China making specialty monitors. You can probably find it in Newark or Digikey's catalog. Google is your friend.

f1jdm,
I have never had any issues on the warranty of a monitor. I had one that arrived defective and I called HFO, sent it back and they supplied a new one the next day. They even paid the UPS RED charges. I'm not sure why they would tell you differently, unless they have changed their policy? Good luck, but it is an easy procedure. I have swapped out five or six now, in the last two years.

Are you talking LCD or older, monochrome CRT monitors? Why have so many monitors failed?

Donkey,
My facility currently has 18 Haas machines ranging from 1993 to 2008 models.
Most of our older machines are just starting to show defects in the monitors. Only on one machine, I had to replace the video board and the rest were monitor problems. I have not seen any problems yet with the LCD's. It's always the monochrome that we are seeing glitches with.
