Converting a Haas stepper rotary table? | | Hi -
I'm in the planning stages of retrofitting my BOSS 5 & 6 Bridgeport Series 1's from the steppers out. I have a 1980's vintage Haas 8RT stepper rotary table with programmable controller. It's a "semi" 4th axis, but as long as I'm converting the rest of the machine, it would seem to make sense to do the RT also, thereby (hopefully) getting a "true" 4th axis. Has anyone eliminated the Haas controller and retro'd modern software/controllers to this motor?
Since it still runs, I don't want to take it apart until I know what direction I might go with it. I don't know what motor it is (the manual is pretty sketchy when it comes to details) but it says it is a 450 oz-in motor. It has a 7 pin connector, so maybe 6 wires and a gnd? Any info someone might have about this would be appreciated.
Thanks! |
