TM-1 Y axis limit switch alarm

Recently purchased a 2002 Haas TM-1 mill. I power up the mill and send to the home positions and about 50% of the time I get a code 146 Y Limit Switch alarm. Occasionally I get a code 145 X Limit Switch alarm but usually its the Y Limit alarm. Today I powered up the mill and it homed OK. I moved it several inches off the limit switches and started writing a program at the controller. After several minutes the 146 Y Limit Switch alarm popped up. Any ideas?....or should we just check out the "alarm suggestions" that come up on the screen for solving the problem.

It probably has proximity sensors not limit switches and there is a chip on or very near the sensor. Find it and clean it.

I have had this problem with my TM-1. It was always a chip (usually steel) stuck to the Prox sensor. This happened when I cut fine steel chips like you get off of an endmill taking a skim cut on the side of a piece of stock (stringy long chips) and then used a blow gun to clean off the machine. Chips were kicked up under the table and there was the problem.
