| 071020-1959 EST USA pit202: I am going to rephrase your question as follows: When using a canned cycle to drill a hole can the HAAS programmable coolant nozzle automatically change its angle to maintain the coolant at the top surface of the material to provide the greatest coolant to the drill? On any of our HAAS machines I do not believe that there is any function to do this. Would it be a good idea? Maybe. If you programmed the drill cycle with individual motions of an appropriate amount, then at these points you could change the angle of the nozzle. . |

| I think you could get what you want by using a G82 with several Z commands separated by M08 commands to adjust the coolant position. G82 Z-.1 F(whatever) R0.0 M08 Z-.2 M08 Z-.3 M08 etc But I thin k it would be very slow because the machine would wait for the coolant nozzle to move. Much better, I think, to have multiple coolant nozzles.

| 071023-0904 EST USA pit202: How does "spidercool" accomplish this function? Either "spidercool" does not move with the Z-axis head, or it needs to know head velocity and some other information, or have some other means of knowing where surface is and where the hole enters. Is "spidercool" an invention of yours? . |

SpiderCool will not move in positioned increments along with machining process...it acheives it's advantage over p-cool by the use of the auto-drill feature. It allows two points to be programmed on the same tool to provide a sweeping action of the tool for ultimate chip evacuation and cooling effect. http://productionpal.googlepages.com/home |

| Ha! Ha! I never thought this would be such a trecherous road...but, fun none the less! Spidercool keeps track of tool stations by interfacing with the tool change signals(dog sensor/directional) up to 99 tools without memory expansion. An easier method on newer controls with DPRINT feature allows signals to be tied in via RS-232. Hope this helps... |
