Regarding 3 phase conversion units | | Had a rotary phase converter some 12 years ago. have since been in commercial space with utility supplied 3 ph. Now am moving into 1 ph barn and looking at newest and greatest phase tech. PhasePerfect offers digital phase conversion I haven't seen. Am looking at the DPC-30 but appears marginal by my calc's. Have 42A cyclone which will run constant along with at least 60A point-to-point perhaps even 18A vertical panel saw. Also have 20HP widebelt along with auto edgebander, etc. Obviously have to watch the power supply but am wondering whether it s best to go with 2 DPC's of smaller size or do these converters work outside stated limits (over and above 4 sec overload limit)? Also don't understand why converter that supplies 96A steady state is recommended to be on 175-200A breaker? What type of power do these converters pull themselves when producing 3 ph? Technology is only 8 yrs old - is it tried and true?
