Haas Tl-1 Lathe no speak-a the english

Yesterdays interesting development: our TL-1 lathe lost the ability to use English.
It works just fine in Italian, French, Spanish, and German. but not English.
I called a factory tech, he believes the motherboard's battery went dead, and the machine control code was corrupted as a result. What are the odds of it being the only language I actually use?

By the way, Heidenhain TNC-360 controls have a nifty little feature that informs you that the backup battery has low voltage on power-up.

Apparently, the only way to resolve the problem is to have a HFO tech come out and re-install the machine control goodies.

if the battery went dead the only memory lost should be the bbu ram battery back-up ram if the serial # of the machine is still in setting 26 then you probably did not lose the battery unless it had a bad connection if you lost the battery you would have a lot of problems you lose all your parameters settings offsets programs etc.. you do not lose the software that is flash memory. you can get the language files and load them yourself depending on the version software you have. if it is an older machine then you have to load in the software but you should be able to get that as well if you like and try to load it yourself, it is not that difficult. you need to know the software version of the machine. i may have the language files depending on the version.

thanks for the reply. our HFO already serviced the machine. I don't mind paying the rate for the service, but the $150 travel fee bites, as the tech lives in this town.
