Haas Probing

Ok so we have these castings on a indexer. I probe the y on the casting that puts my G59 Y workoffset in, each casting is diffrent .I then mill the y so that establishes my Y0. Then I index 90 deg now, and mill a pocket trying to hold
.100 thickness from my g59 y to my g58 z. So every part I probe, I write down the offset of g59 y and I have to add or sub the amount from the last part and add or subract it to the g58 z0. Is there a way that I can do a variable so It will do it for me. My casting is in a vise on the indexer so it isnt centered.

binzer:

Yes. Look in the HAAS manual under MACROS. The function of various #-variables are defined there in a very limited way.

From the HAAS manual:

"
#5201-#5205 Common offset
#5221-#5225 G54 work offsets
#5241-#5245 G55 work offsets
#5261-#5265 G56 work offsets
#5281-#5285 G57 work offsets
#5301-#5305 G58 work offsets
#5321-#5325 G59 work offsets
"

These go in sequence X is 5221, Y is 5222, etc.

You may have to consider whether to add or subtract to get the correct results.

Suppose G54 is your base reference and you want G55 to be shifted by some amount in X relative to G54. Let's put the shift amount in #100, then

#100 = some offset value from your probe measurement
#5241 = #5221 + #100

Another way is to put the #100 offset value into #5201 which is the X value of G52 and still work with G54 as your base. When done you need to reset G52 X to 0.

Rather then add/sub from the last part you would be better off finding the Y and Z location of the center of rotation .
That way you don't have creeping error buildup.

Andre' B:

I think binzer needs to provide a more complete description of exactly what he wants to do. From the description I have no idea exactly what is being done or the relation from one part to the next.
