    HAAS VF2 gear changer

Does anyone know how to change parameter 142 on a haas vf2, ( the gear change point). The transmission in our machine has lost low gear, I have a new gearbox coming but it will be a week before it gets here and I need this machine running until it does.
The factory shift point is 1201 RPMs and I need to lower it to 1100 RPMs because that is my slowest tools spindle speed and I need it to run in High gear. I have tried speeding up the tools but this causes a lot of chatter. I have also tried to change the Parameter but the machine flashes an error saying that the command is disabled. The book and help menus just say to contact Haas. I have also tried to put in an m42 command to override the gear change but the machine ignores the command and tries to change anyway.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

go to setting 7 and turn it off and press the e stop in before you can change a parameter if you put an m42 the line before the spindle speed command it should stay in high gear and you should not have to change the parameter.

I believe you'll have to change the DISABLE G.B. bit in Parameter 57, or it will try to shift when you power up.

Thanks for the info, up to this point I have been leaving the panel on since we are running the machine 20 hours a day. I have also discovered that you can do a single axis return on all the axis and thereby bypassing the gear check at startup. Thanks again

The various locks in settings are:
    7 parameters
    8 programs
    23 9xxx progs
    120 MACRO variables

Located somewhere in parameters is the value for the gear shift point. Unlock parameters to change this value. Once the gear shift point is set this remains set even with power on-off. After the change relock the parameters. I could not find settings in the on-line manual. Use the manual you received with the machine.

In one of our manuals "high/low gear change" RPM value is at parameter 142.
