I'm looking for a tool recommendation to use on a HAAS TM-1 machine with a cat40 tool holder. Top of the piece is 8 1/2 in. Would like to use a 1 in boring bar with round inserts? What do you suggest. Thanks in advance. Keith |

| your not going to find a tool to do that in a catalog. Try going at it from a different direction or have a custom lolypop cutter built. Looks like a golf club?

| I have used boring bars in end mill holders on a mill but it tends to be slow going. You may look into something like this. http://www.dapra.com/cutting/ballnose/tools.htm Edit: Also something that a lot of people seem to forget. Use shorter tools for as much of the machining as you can. Then switch to longer ones as needed. Just something I have noticed, people get focused on the longest tool needed and forget that most of the machining can be done with just a plain old end mill. |

| You could also use a small Copy mill say 1" Diameter with 1/4" Corner Rad, and 2 inserts. Check out Sandvik R300 Series stuff they may make something like that. Walter also makes something similar to what Andre has suggested with solid carbide Arbours for the head to be screwed into. $$$$$$$$ but rigid!
