Follow-up:
I called the customer yesterday.
They have been running continuously now for about 1 week at 115.2 kbaud with zero errors.
In retrospect I believe that after reloading HAAS or whatever else they may have done several months ago that they never tried Cimco again and/or running at 115.2 kbaud. Also we do not know if my changing the computer UART programming to "disable FIFO" had any effect.
My guess remains that within HAAS there was some problem corrected by the reload.
