Does anyone know where I can get the list of approved mass storage devices which work with the USB port on the haas mills? I'm able to get one of my machines (VM3) to read from a flash stick but not the other one (VF2SS) and neither one will read from a USB external hard drive which is my goal. (????) -E |

| What operating system is Haas using on the new machines? Unless it were windows, I can only guess that they need to write special DOS drivers to make USB work with certain hardware, maybe even with specific hardware? Just my WAG as to why plug and play would not really work on random USB devices plugged in to their m/b.

| I've used at least 10 different brands of USB thumb drives on mine never had any problems. I even used a 4 gig Sony pocket drive. The port will provide power to the drive but I don't know how much. Never tried a portable HDD. I would not see a need for a HDD just use a big thumb drive. I've seen 4 gig, 8 gig you really going to fill one of those up with G code? |

| We have an '03 TM-1 in our shop with the USB and 20gig Harddrive on it and have only a few minor glitches with it. One thing I would recommend would be to use good brand name USD drives (sony, scandisk, etc.) It seems to hiccup a bit if we are using a cheapie. Also there has been a few occasions where I walked out the door at night with my USB in my pocket and forgot the next day, so I just took a card reader, and one of the memory cards from our digital cameras and used that and didn't have a problem. You may have a faulty USB port or USB stick, just some thoughts. CJH |

| When I first got my VF2 (1 year ago) only 1 usb stick drive worked on the machine. It was the one that the tech owned. I bought 4 or 5 new ones (including the exact same brand and model as the tech`s) to try but they didnt work either, only that one stick worked. The VFO replaced the main board and everything started working fine. Very weird I thought but now its fine. Here is the thread USB port Mark |
