After hours spent on reading all those posts about HAAS and FADAL VMC's I feel like I didn't learn anything. I need to make my decision fast (Haas or Fadal 40x20 ). I'll buy it brand new and 10K in price doesn't make much difference. Disregarding all technical specs. , with what brand would you go ? I know that all machines have their issues (old or new)and sometimes I think you have to be lucky to buy new machine that doesn't have any. My one wish would be to get a machine that will hold +/-.001 tolerance for couple of years and make good quality 3D surfacess(doesn't have to be mold quality). What brand would you go with? |

| I would buy the Haas. I have 3 Haas machines and haven't had any major problems at all. Most of the problems are operator induced screw ups!!! I have a friend with two older Fadals and they are slow! I prefer the Haas machine much more than Fadal. Put it like this, I am preparing to buy another machine(s). fadal is not on the list. PM me if you have any specific questions. Wolog |

| Fadal or Haas? How many more times is Fadal going to be sold? Will they be here tomorrow? Have they built relationships with their customers and remember them. Haas has one owner .. committed to the customer. Haas' service is second to none. They strategically have set up HFO's around the world to ensure that they will be close to the end user for support. Haas is going to be around for a long time. Visit the factory and see for yourself. Haas Automation, Inc. is the best value for your money, When you buy a Haas .. you buy more than a machine .. you just bought into a large family that will be there for you when you need them. |

| We only have a small Haas VMC. But from what I have seen so far, I would buy another. It will hold tenths all day. I am sure others will too. But I like the control. It's easy to go back and forth between it and the SL-10 we have. Sure, they have their quirks like any other machine has, but if you get used to it, it will serve you well, as ours have done for us. Good luck on your choice! |

| I would vote for the Haas. I believe the are more durable than a Fadal. Meaning that the ways, Lead screws, table and spindle will hold up better in the long run. As for service and support, Haas! Haas has always gone out of there way to provide the best support and service. Haas has some of the coolest features now. I wish we had the mutiple types of coolant features they have now. Flood, Tapping oil, and programable air nozzle, all in the same program. How cool is that! Thanks for letting me vote. Bill |

| For durability both are loosers... But I will say this. The Haas control is very generic in its G-code requirements meaning you can adapt programs made with other POSTs or run customer supplied programs easily. In its price bracket Haas is the winner - unless you are not running production and only doing very short run proto type work then I would point to Hurco. |

| I have been running a Haas VF4 for about 6 years, it has been a fantastic machine!! My boss has now ordered another just a little bit bigger a VF11. When the salesman asked him what size machine he was looking for my boss said one with a table big enough to lay a full sheet of plywood on it and be-able to machine around the perimeter of it. it isn't quite big enough to do that but it is the biggest one the salesman has ever sold. |

I would go with the Haas. I don't have much experience with them, but what I have seen, I like. We bought a EC-400 in November, and it has been a great machine. Just bought a TM-1 a few weeks ago, and so far it's been everything we wanted. Fadal is a different story. We have had several for more than 10 years. A lot of repairs in my opinion. See the thread I started over the latest infusion of cash required. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28210 Good luck with your decision |
