Haas has a new website, very new, which supposedly has virtual training on the Haas control, but I can't get in without a registration key code. Called Haas customer service, they didn't know anything about it, weird. Website is www.learnhaas.com Anyone have any info or insight on this site? Thanks jv |

| 060909-0827 EST USA This site heading was clearly designed to make you think it is a HAAS site. If this was not authorized by HAAS and if HAAS has a registered tradmark on their logo, then this is clearly a trademark violation. My initial reaction when I first saw this site a day ago was that it was some new HAAS site. But looking at it more closely it looked fishy. The basic square logo is essentially identical to the HAAS, except for a reversal of color and a slight change in the line weight of the characters in HAAS. The basic structure is identical. When there is a deliberate effort to deceive then that raises a red flag. . |

| 060909-0914 EST USA Geof and others: Bring up www.haascnc.com up in one window, squish the vertical height. Then in another window bring up www.learnhaas.com and bring these close together and do a visual comparison. . |

Not to worry. It's all ligit ..................... We (Northern Maine Community College/HAAS Technical Education Center) test drove the product back in April. It's an outstanding resource for NEW HAAS owners. I believe it's being introduced at IMTS. The product is the resulting effort of a number of HFO's. Last edited by deanrach; 09-09-2006 at 01:10 PM. | 060909-2030 EST USA deanrach: I have a number of comments. I do not feel I have any need for learnhass.com's service, but I am curious about their technique. This does not mean I can not learn something from whatever this material is. If no registration were required, and there was a useful sample of the process, then I would look at what is being done. If it looked good I might recommend it to someone. If learnhaas.com (whoever they are) had not used the strange HAAS logo without some clarification as to its legality, then there would not have been that red flag. When a web site wants me do do something and I have no a priori information on what the consequence of the action is, then I am reluctant to proceed further. In this case registration. Unfortunately there are many web sites that are structured this way. Do you generally want to go into a cave without knowledge of what the dangers are? Going to PRODUCTS does not require registration, but I learned absolutely nothing on this page. For example: are there different products for mill, lathe, basic operation of the machine, advanced, tooling, etc? Or is there just one long serial course? And however it is structured what is the content covered for each course or section? Also the web site is too wide and probably won't print well. . |

The site allows me to train numerous students using our Smart board which provides them the virtual hands on experiences they need to run and program the machinery.
