    Hass rotation & scaling

I can't believe that Hass needs to charge $1,039.00 to turn on the rotation & scaling option that is already in the software.I turned on the trial version with this forums assistance, my 200 hours are about up. Any input?
    Thanx
    Phil

    I feel for you.
Other than the obvious answer of; Just do it in your CAD/CAM package. (Not as convenient)
If you use it a lot, don't think of it as a one time biq screwing think of it as a bunch a little screws. I guess amortize it over all the jobs you use it on would be the technical term.
Drink heavily then order and pay for the option that way you won't remember in the morning.
Get some hack/phreaks to hack the HAAS control. Then make big money off the code generator program before HAAS puts you in jail. Be sure to put me on the list.

    O.K. I'll just go out and buy a $5000.00 Cad/cam package.
Just kiddin. I program by hand. I was just wondering what others think of the idea of Hass charging such a exhorbanent amount for such a simple piece of code after you've already paid full price for the machine. My company has no problem paying for it but I think it should be free.

    paptep:

If your business were based on software do you think what you created should be free? Do you think all software should be free? Do you think there would be the amount of software available today that exists if it were all free?

If you think the code for rotation and scaling is that simple, then disassemble the HAAS code and write your own to add into the system.

HAAS makes a business decision on how many copies of a particular software package will be bought at a given price (elasticity of demand --- basic economics class) and from this HAAS sets the price relative to their costs. It is not a precise science.

My compliant with HAAS on this package is that it does not have independent scaling in each axis. We have the HAAS Rotation and Scaling function on every machine and could not work easily without the function.

It is my opinion that when you buy a HAAS machine with whatever options you need that you are getting good value for your money.

In thirteen years we have not had a machine that did not correctly find its home position automatically. We have had negligible failure problems. We have machines that are extremely easy to work with. We have run many thousands of different programs on these machines. We can make rather accurate circular pockets without a boring head. All of these comments relate to extremely good value.

The only problem with giving things away free is that it becomes very difficult to pay rent and wages. Are you willing to work for free?

Fanuc and others do same things..
Eg. most controls have max memory in hardware but you can use only amount you are willing to pay.
Some memory prices are about 120$ / 32 kt, not very cheap if you need 1G !

Thumbs up Just did get rotating and scaling

It's worth the money. If you have to go back to cadcam to rotate a part and even a set of pockets. It also cuts down on memory if you rotate and use subprogramming for it. I had to do over 50 complicated form pockets on an array. I would have needed 3 times the memory of my machine to get them run from Cadcam.
