| timf, Thanks for the reply. My app would be full simultaneous 5-axis motion. I would like to add a 5-axis trunnion to one of the existing VF4's rather that buy a new machine right now. I am sure I will need the latest software upgrade. The machine I want to use is a 2000. I guess the question is are you using simultaneous 5-axis motion and how do you like it? Gary |

| Hi Gary, We looked into the Haas 5-axis machines. Currently we own a Hermle C800U high speed 5-axis machine. We would like to increase our 5-axis capability, and considered this option (less than 1/2 the price of the Hermle). Depending on your accuracy requirements, the Haas trunnion may be okay. However, I was informed by a former Haas technician, that the accuracy of the trunnion will deteriorate over time, and that the Haas service fellas that come on location do not service trunnions. Hope this is of use to you, Dan

| Dan, Thanks for the reply. Last time I had a encoder go out under warranty, the same thing. Since the new rotaries came out in ...2000? or so the tecks cant normally work on them. There is a big shop about a hour from here that is getting a new 5-axis machine with the trunnion. So I have been invited to watch it work. We shall see. Gary |
