    HRT-310 Indexer Problem

First time poster. I browse occasioanlly and I am very appreciative of all the knowledge and support that gets offered and exchanged.

    Here is my problem:

Just purchased a used HRT-310 Indexer and Controller (brush type) and everything looked good during initial testing and inspection.

However, now the controller displays "HI LOAD" error and the servo will not operate. I removed the belt and the table spins freely ... but I can't seem to find the nature of the error.

Any way to diagnose this problem?

What happens when you run the servo with the belt removed?

    Bad servo bearing causing overload?

How are you operating it, on the machine or with a controller? Have you set all of the parameters on the machine to match the unit?

Running it through the controller ... have not hooked it up to the machine tool yet. The curious thing is it literally worked fine one day, and then stopped working the next.

The servo will not operate at all, even after the belt was removed.

There was a little bit of handling, nothing abusive, involved between the last time it opertated successfully and now HI LOAD error.

A brushed motor can draw excess current because of short cicuiting through the carbon dust from the brushes. This could be interpreted as a Hi Load by the controller. Try cleaning all the dust out of the servo motor.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

    haas indexer

We have several Haas Indexers, but use them on non- Haas machines. we have to use the control boxes with them. If the control box is not hooked up to the indexer, we get a high load alarm. Sounds like you may have to change a parameter in the controller.

Brushes look good, minimal dust ... cleaned them up a little and re-installed. Now the high load and over load lights flash and then I get SER ERR. Still no movement from the servo motor.

The manual suggested checking parameter 25 and making sure the brake delay is set for the highest value at 19 and it is.

I am running through the haas controller ... not the machine tool.

Speaking of the brake, do you have the air hooked up to it so it will release? Do you hear it release?

I removed the belt from the servo so the brake should have no effect at all.
