    tool holders

    Hello All,
Does anyone have any experiance / opinions about "Jacobs" Cat 40/50 series tool holders. There seems to be an abundance of new ones popping up on eBay as of late. I currently use an assorted variety of brands with no apparent issues, just no Jacobs at this point. Am wanting to purchase more holders and was looking at the Jacobs.
    Thanks
    Murph

Don't know of any Jacobs brand of CAT40/50 tool holders. Are you sure they are not CAT40/50 tool holders that receive Jacobs taper tools. That is a big difference.

Please link to a tool for an example.

I did a search for CAT40 and Jacobs and only found a few regular tool holders listed as Jacobs brand and they were collet chucks.

The rest are CAT40 adapters to various sizes of "Jacobs" tapers. Jacobs tapers are what drill chucks and such are attached to. The protrusion you see on the end is the Jacobs taper.

I did not see any bargains there though. If you need a drill chuck for your mill,(and I have several) they can be purchase complete and very reasonably from other sellers.

So, in short, I had never heard of an actual Jacobs brand of CAT40/50 tooling, although they do seem to exist. I do believe that Jacobs is an American company though. For what it's worth----Mike

If you are looking for tooling, this is a good buy. The guy's not getting many views as he doesn't know how to spell Haas. Free shipping too!
