    Display shutoff while program running

Is there a way on the VF series to get the monitor display to shut off while a program is running?

I know what setting 199 and the screen saver do but that is only when the machine is idle. Let's say you have a 50 minute program and you want to have the display go dark a minute after hitting cycle start and stay dark unless an alarm pops up or you hit a button on the controller to bring it back up. How would one achieve this, if it is even possible?

As far as I know, not possible. Why would you want to? Do you think you are going to save electricity? Keep the monitor "fresh like new"?

To save on the monitor, especially on our older 2000 Haas vf4 that has a CRT. The Brother CNC Tapping centers have a button where you can do this.

If there is not a built in function for this, it would be very easy to add a power switch to the monitor power.

New machines have this feature but not the older ones.

Could be set up with a new relay and an M code function, but it's a little bit of wiring.

M76 is the closest feature to this request:

M76 Control Display Inactive / M77 Control Display Active
These codes are used to disable and enable the screen display. This M-Code is useful during the running of a large complicated program as refreshing the screen takes processing power that otherwise may be necessary to command the moves of the machine.

Forgot about that one, thanks Ken!

For those with controls featuring setting 100, this will turn on the screen saver after the programmed time limit.
    Thanks,

This just "freezes" the screen...right? It doesn't actually turn it off...

Haastec - which new machines(model year) would turn it off and how?

That is correct, it freezes the program window.
    Thanks,
