    Cool Gt-20

Anyone seen this new Haas GT-20? Its in thier website under news and new machines. Wonder what it's capable of, doesn't sound like it has a tailstock. If you could put a bar feeder on it it might not be to bad. I couldn't find on their site but does any one know what the list price is?

I'll take a guess at a price. We'll have to see.

    Base price 29.999.

That is without a chuck, turret, or coolant.

It's got to be less than an SL10, more than a TL-1 I figure.

    What's your guess?

    That's probably not far off.
Like I said if a guy could put a small bar feeder on there, it would make a nice little chucker. Probably isn't available with a chip auger either!

The through hole for the bar feeder will be a $2000 option.

    Talking

More important, when will it be out? I'm looking to get a TL-1 but I'd prefer a closed machine, after options I'm in GT territory pricewise.

I was pretty close there on the price eh JP?

Jan isn't long to wait, tough decision between the TL and this little guy. The advantage of the GT, closed, faster RPM, but the TL has a 30 X 16 capacity, tough decision.

I'm sure if I opt to wait for that GT my fist project will be exactly 1" over the capacity. If I get the TL I will never cut anything over 2".

I wish the Haas boys would get more of the specs on their site along with the ability to build a quote with all the options that would be available, even if they are only estimates at this time.
Ya not bad on price guess. I'm with you, I've been thinking about whether or not to get a tl-1 or tl-2 and now this goes and adds a third option ( a nice option at that!). I keep thinking if money was no object I would buy a SL-20 with bar and maybe their TL-3W 30x 60 ( that looks like one serious lathe), but then again money is everything when you're a small shop like me.

Had a look at one today. With coolant pump, hydraulic system, chuck and 8 station turret in the region of 43,000. Take away about 6500 if you get the manual chuck. No tailstock and looks like it would be a difficult add-on. No chip auger but it is not really needed because the bed casting slopes down to the right like the TL series. Much faster rapids (710ipm) and tool changes (1 - 2 seconds indexing) than TL with auto turret. About the same size on the floor as a TL1.
