Setting 90: Max tools to display

I have a 24-1 SMTC, setting 90 says I can use tool numbers 1-200. How do I go about loading tools with a number above 25?

You have to rename the pocket you want to put, say, T35 in to 35 on the toolchanger page (in offsets). Setting 90 has absolutely nothing to do with what you're asking.

    What is setting 90 for?

So for example can I put T100 into P1?

Setting 90 refers to H values only, not T values.

    Your machine can only recognize T1 - T25, but can recognize H1 - H200.

    Thanks.

I wonder why they Haas doesn’t write their software to recognize an unlimited number of tool numbers as long as the group in the control did not exceed the number a tool changer can hold. It would make things a lot simpler in the area of design. For the designer, tool numbers for a specific tool would never change in the CAM data base or from program to program it would even work for the guys that write their own programs. Why would a program care if a tool was called T1 or T1000???

Did this change in '08? My '07 VF-2ss will take T200 and below as long as I change the pocket number to reflect what I'm doing in the program.

I've never actually used this in a program, but have tried it just for grins. T200+ATC FWD works just fine in MDI.

You CAN use up to T200.

It's been awhile but first you go to the screen where you can assign tool numbers to pockets. Where there is a pocket with no tool assigned, you can assign any number up to 200.
Then after you call the tool number (M6TXXX) the tool may be loaded into the machine through the spindle manually.
This is handy for keeping multiple jobs set up with holders and leaving the offsets in the machine. There are tehniques for clearing the magazine and loading a series of tools in short order but I don't have enough experience to tell you how.

I’m going to setup a program with all tool numbers above T100 tomorrow (And reassign the pockets.) I have a small part that will work great for this test. I’ll post up the results tomorrow.

Setting 90 was put into place to limit the 200 tools down to the number of tools in your magazine. That way the navigation is quicker.

You can re-assign tool numbers very easily, you can also mix and match the length and diameter offsets. You need to turn off setting 15 to do this.
    Thanks,
