Repair support

Does anyone know of a good repair service other than LANCE for HAAS in the Mid Atlantic? I had a machine go down, called their service department, they sent a part out next day delivery and a technician did not show up for 2 weeks. When the tech finally came, the part was dead out of the box. A part was sent next day air but it took an additional 3 weeks to get a tech to install it. Having a machine down that long is a show stopper for me. I had a second machine get an alarm and again called the service department on Thursday and was told it is going to be 2 weeks before a tech can be scheduled. There has to be someone out there who services HAAS other than LANCE!!!! Please help before LANCE puts me out of business.

There are good repair techs available, but you still need to get the parts. We refer to the dead out of the box or dead out of the repair van as being “LANCED”. It has always been a crap shoot if the parts from them are actually new or they just recycle them to see if it will work for someone else…. It’s best to wait until after 6:00 and order directly from Oxnard. The shipping cost more but the odds of a good part have gone way up! Send your e-mail off line and I’ll give you the number of a company, not Lance, in the area with HAAS trained techs.

Lance not all bad

All of Lance isn’t bad, sure you get close to 50% dead out of the box parts, but there are a few tech’s that in my opinion that really go above and beyond to try to help. Its more the people in the office that are not in touch with reality thinking that a machine down for 1-2 weeks is ok. (They obviously have a steady paycheck.) The really worst thing is the NET 15. And believe me on day 15 they are calling looking for their money. I personally like the HAAS control. My suggestion would be buy the service manuals to fix it yourself and like pitmastermb said, order the parts after 6:00.

Your right, I've had two techs’ (Rob & Jim) that were great, they really know the machines. But you don't always get them. I've had techs that are being walked through what to do over the phone. We care because the meter is running and we are paying for this guy to learn. Something the experienced tech can do in 1-1/2 hours takes them 6 hours. Without going into too much detail I’ve surmised that they don’t really care, as long as their response time #’s look good to the home office. That’s why I need to find a responsive service team that knows what they’re doing. I kind of wish MD Machinery was the HFO, Mike knows customer service and how to get repairs done quick.

shop move

You’ve got to be close to the edge of the territory for Lance, check with the other shops to see what their support is like and at the end of your lease just move the shop a few miles to change HFO territory.....

I am not familiar with Lance at all, but if their failure rate of available parts is that high I would be complaining to Oxnard. Not acceptable!

There are a few guys from the factory lurking on this site and trust me, they take their customer service seriously. Hopefully they will find this thread and chime in.

Good luck on your search.

$$$$

For the amount of money it would cost for piping air lines, running the electrical, rig all of this equipment, pay to set it all back up again and then risk losing my experienced help. It’s not worth it to move. It would be better investment to trade in all of my HAAS machines and buy ones with better support. In hind sight, I’ve learned that the support is the most important aspect of a machine purchase. As friendly as the HAAS control is, dealing with LANCE support outweighs its benefits.
