Our 1600 use to repeat VERY good from going 0 to - 90 - 180 deg. but now we are experiencing run out when we go to from a set angle to another and check it when it stops at the programmed angle. In 16 inches it is now out about .008 when it use to be .001 or so........From what Haas has told use is that it is in spec - not good enough. The machine has heavy use so we need to get a plan of attack before we start to tear it apart. Has anyone else experienced this issue? and what needs to be done to remedy it. Thanks for any help!!! |

| Have you measured physical backlash in the worm drive ? You need to use a bar and indicator every 15/ 30 degrees and pull and push the bar and measure the free play. If the free play is the same all round the worm can be adjusted, but if it is different, i.e. microns in one place and thou's in another, there will need to be a refurb of the table. Also, if it is the same, check the motor drive and for any end float (axial play) on the wormshaft. |
