My Sminimill is coming...

Hello all,

I've ordered a sminimill with a tr-110 trunnion table, It should be delivered in the second week of feb.

I'm looking for pictures of a minimill delivery. Want to see the king of truck the use for shipping and what owners are using to unload the mill...

Any help greatly appreciated.

If your HFO is arranging shipping then everything I've seen came on a 48' to 53' flat deck trailer, and the riggers that are carrying it will also bring their own forklift to set it in place. You'll need room for the big truck, plus whatever truck is hauling the forklift.

Geof will become famous soon enough

The machine will come out of California on a big highway rig and, depending on what your Haas dealer prefers, you can either get it delivered right to your door and arrange for a forklift to unload it or have it delivered to the dealer's warehouse and then arrange for a local trucking company to deliver it. You will need a forklift to unload and also to lift the machine off the shipping pallet, but it only weighs about 5000lbs so you don't need a big one.

If you have a smooth concrete floor, it can be moved without much trouble using a pallet jack. You can also place it on the four cast iron pads under the levelling bolts and inch it along with a big pry bar or pull it with a come-along if you have something to anchor to.

It doesn't need any fancy levelling, just make sure all four levelling bolts are carrying some load. The rear two have more weight on them than the front so you need to level it with about the same torque on the two rear bolts and the same torque on the front, but the front and rear will be different. Just estimate the tension by hand, nothing fancy is needed.

I thought the minimill just came UPS. All you need is a dolly to bring it in, right?
