Has anyone ever installed a TR-210 8" 5-Axis Rotary Head. onto a 3 axis mill ? I have a 2006 VF3 SS and I love it but I have always wanted a 5 axis machine there is a TR210 coming up at an auction and it has me thinking about retrofitting my machine . I see on the Haas site that they have a 2 axis brushless controller that I would need to install is there any other parts I would need ? Any advise would be appreciated |

| I think you should sell it to me ... You can get the external controls, but I would suggest just buying the 4th and 5th axis option and have the cards installed in the machine. This way if you want to do simultaneous you can, and it is just simpler. I dont know the cost difference but I dont believe it would be that much. |

| i'd agree with previous poster.....trunnions ain't cheap don't skimp out on the controller trying to save a few bucks and now only have 5 axis positioning. get the 4th and 5th axis drives for 5 axis simultaneous. and also i believe pricing for a controller vs the drives are similar. i'd kill for a tr210 hoping to get one eventually. |

| If you do get it, be certain to check long tools when doing a tool change, there is not much clearance. Andrew.

| At one of the colleges where I work, we have the exact indexer you're looking at, but it's been sitting around in the shop ever since we bought it over a year ago. We would be using it but we found out our VF2 was in-between-years machine and needs a control retrofit that we can't pay for until we get grant funding. I can comment on it someday when we actually put it in a machine |
